A wake up call

Sometimes we get so engulfed in the details of mundane life that we lose track of the bigger picture.

In Acceptance and Commitment therapy (ACT)  there is an exercise where you’re asked to consider what could be written on your tombstone.

I hope mine would say something like:

Sophia Parnas

RIP

She had a good crack at life and met some extraordinary people on the way

Rather than:

Sophia Parnas

RIP

She was very busy but managed to do  all the things on her to-do-list (Just)

Or

Sophia Parnas

RIP

Whatever the crisis she never went to bed without having done the dishes

Okay, maybe not the last one because lying on one’s tombstone is in pretty bad taste but you get my drift.

What will yours say?
