Recently I was sick with the flu and had to stay in bed for a few days (thank god for laptops). This enforced rest, however, gave me a rare opportunity to surf the net and check out some interesting websites and read some very insightful and funny blogs. It will come as no big surprise to many of you that the blogs that I enjoy most are about therapy.
In one of the blogs the issue of the therapist’s office came up and patients began discussing the presence of a clock (or lack thereof) that patients could see. Many people were commenting (fully justified, I believe) about how thoughtless it was of the therapist not to have an available clock so they could keep an eye on the time and adjust what they were saying accordingly.
Oops….
Two things immediately sprung to mind: 1) why had I not thought of that before? 2) why had nobody ever said anything?
It is still a bit of a mystery to me why I didn’t think of placing a clock where you can see it. Especially since I am constantly monitoring the time to make sure that we make the best use of our time together.
So to all of you who have sat with me year after year session after session without a clue as to how we were going for time (and being much too polite to overtly checking out your watches): sorry and thank for your patience.
A wall clock is soon to be placed straight in your line of vision.
I promise. 🙂
