I\u2019ve noticed a disturbing trend in some blogs that I\u2019ve been reading: they start out well discussing topics in psychology and psychiatry but then \u2013 usually after some time has lapsed \u2013 the authors seem to lose focus and start doing strange things like recommending their favourite lobster restaurant or reviewing movies.<\/p>\n
It may be the same phenomena that makes movie- and music stars want to share with us their thoughts on\u2026.well, everything. I often blush in embarrassment on their behalf and think: \u201cyou really should stick to what you know.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n I know a lot about psychology. It\u2019s what I\u2019m trained in, it\u2019s what I do every day, it\u2019s what I\u2019m passionate about. If I start writing about anything else \u2013 please stop me!<\/p>\n I\u2019m not a food critic, a movie reviewer, a fashion designer, a book reviewer (I don\u2019t have a degree in literature although I have one in Comparative Religion and may be able to say something fairly reasonable about the concept of sacrifice or the role of icons. Maybe).
